Jubilation as another soldier returns home after battling Boko Haram for 5 years
Some Nigerians have continued to celebrate as their family members return home after spending years battling Boko Haram insurgents in the north-east.

Some Nigerians have continued to celebrate as their family members return home after spending years battling Boko Haram insurgents in the north-east
NAIJ.com had in a report dated Thursday, August 10, stated that the army had begun to implement a rotation policy introduced by the chief of army staff (COAS), Lieutenant General TY Buratai, to ensure that soldiers who have overstayed operating in the northeast are sent back home and replaced by fresh deployments.

The news report which shared some photos of a soldier embracing his wife and son, has generated reactions from Nigerians across the country.
Among the reactions was that of a Facebook user named Victor Ubom Victor, who said his in-law also returned from the northeast after spending five years in the region.
Victor also thanked God for the safe return of his loved one.

Another reaction was from Melvin Chukwuma who said he returned from the northeast to the glory of God.
But others who still have family members on the front lines prayed for God to protect their loved ones.
One of such persons was a Facebook user by name Tony Rita, who prayed for her husband who she said was still in the northeast.
Another similar comment was that of Hillary Laura Crystal, who also petitioned God to preserve her husband serving in Maiduguri.

Meanwhile, the chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, says the economic impact of Boko Haram activities in the North East is estimated at $9 billion (N274.5b).
Buratai, represented by Maj. Gen. Peter Dauke, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 division Lagos, made the assertion on Thursday at the first annual conference of Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCON).
The paper is titled Counter- Insurgency and Role of the Nigerian Army in Creating Conducive Environment For Nigeria`s Economic Development.
Buratai said that of the figure, Borno had the highest impact estimated at $5.9 billion (N180b).
He said that loss of agricultural production in the north east caused by Boko Haram activities was $3.5 billion (N107b).
The army chief said that Borno had 95 per cent of the 400,000 houses damaged by Boko Haram.
