Presidential aspirant speaks on how Buhari, other ex-leaders failed Nigerians

- A presidential aspirant, Alhaji Usman Ibrahim, said President Buhari and the older generation of leaders are responsible for Nigeria's problems

- Ibrahim also noted that in the computer age Nigerian leaders have been using outdated ideas to run the country

- The aspirant promised to ensure adequate security of lives and property

Alhaji Usman Ibrahim, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has said President Muhammadu Buhari and the older generation of leaders are responsible for the problems of Nigeria, The Punch reports.

NAIJ.com gathered that Ibrahim, who declared his presidential ambition on Monday evening, August 20, during his three-day tour of Osun state, said he decided to inaugurate his ambition in Osun because the state is unique.

According to Ibrahim, Nigerian leaders have been using outdated ideas to run the country in the computer age.

The 48-year-old educationist promised to ensure adequate security of lives and property, tackle corruption and provide critical infrastructure needed to boost the economy.

He said: “For the past 19 years, Nigeria has witnessed democratic rule, but unfortunately, Nigerians have not got the desired democratic dividends due to outdated political players, massive corruption and lack of well-articulated economic and social reform programme that will move the country to the path of development.

“It is no longer a waiting game for our generation but a golden, God-sent opportunity to muster the courage of our conviction and take over every platform for informed, intelligent, inspired and incorrigible service to the fatherland within the democratic structures as a matter of right.

“We make bold to state without fear of contradiction that all the turbulence and travails that have retarded Nigeria’s growth and development are attributable to pilot error. Our pilots, with due respect, have been navigating Nigeria’s development journey with outdated knowledge and obsolete maps.”

NAIJ.com previously reported that front-line PDP presidential aspirant and former minister of special duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has said that he had no inordinate ambition to be the president of the country.

According to him, his decision to contest for the number one office in the land, was propelled by the desire to give qualitative leadership to salvage Nigeria from he said is its current socio-economic, political and leadership quagmire that the administration had put the country.

Turaki made this known on Friday, August 10, in his campaign office in Abuja, when he granted audience to the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Political Science Association, who came on a fact-finding visit to know what agenda the aspirant had for improving the life of the average Nigerian.
