HILLIARD, Ohio (WCMH) -- A female student at Hilliard Bradley High School was detained Tuesday after a potential safety threat locked down three schools in the area.
In a note sent to families of Hilliard City Schools, the district said that at 10:30 a.m., administration at Bradley were notified of a potential safety threat in the school. Bradley, Hilliard Memorial Middle School, and Brown Elementary School were placed in lockdown as a result.
Police determined that the threat was not credible with the district stating, "It was a bad judgment call from a student thinking she was making a joke." Hilliard City Schools said those involved in the threat have been detained and that criminal charges are pending.
"When the threat was heard, a student promptly notified the appropriate adults, and the school was immediately placed on lockdown," the district wrote in a statement. "Within a short time, dozens of first responders from the Hilliard Division of Police and Norwich Township Fire arrived on the scene. We are incredibly grateful to our first responders for their swift and thorough response."
