The Vees were given a power play just as the first period ended and that carried over to the second and they wasted little time converting on it. Just six seconds into the second, James Fisher tied 1-1 with his third of the playoffs. Right off the face-off, Callum Arnott grabbed the puck and came down the right-wing. He centered for Fisher who went upstairs over Eli Pulver’s shoulder to tie things up.

Near the midway mark of the second, the Vees thought they had taken the lead, as Matthew Biotti came within inches of making it 2-1. His backhand squeaked through the pads of Pulver and trickled to goal line but didn’t cross the line, as it sat there precariously. The puck was swatted away before the net came off its pegs. Initial called a goal, a short video review overturned the call on the ice.

It stayed 1-1 until late in the second when Salmon Arm’s Reid Varkonyi broke the deadlock. JJ Monteiro threw a cross-ice pass that was tipped in by Varkonyi on the blocker side of Ingemann at 14:32. His first goal of the playoffs stood up as the game-winner.

The Vees pressed in the third period, outshooting Salmon Arm 14-5, but couldn’t find an equalizer. Their best chance came when Max Heise had a one-timer that was kicked out by Pulver. Billy Renfrew set up Heise off the rush, but Pulver came across to make the timely save.

Nathaniel Davis put the game out of reach with his empty net goal from centre ice with nine seconds left in regulation.
