Stacking liquids
To teach students about liquid density and miscibility, Victor Hugo Ramos Alvarado and Lázaro Sierra Zequeira presented this demo, which they call torre de fluidos (tower of liquids). Together, the two teachers at Institución Educativa Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento in La Jagua de Ibirico, Colombia, have introduced a series of chemistry demos to their science class of 11- and 12-year-olds. The liquids in this tower are honey (from bottom), liquid soap, rubbing alcohol (mostly water and ethanol), and vegetable oil.
