Both players in the 49ers—Eagles rivalry may have crossed a line.
One NFC rivalry has taken an ugly turn for the worse.
San Francisco 49ers guard Jon Feliciano and Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter have traded vicious barbs in a nasty feud that started after Super Bowl LVIII, when Feliciano blamed teammate Spencer Burford for missing a key block during overtime.
Feliciano later apologized to Burford, but his initial tweet blast was shared on Instagram Stories by Carter.
In his caption, Carter claimed Feliciano “spoke on my dead teammate,” referring to former Georgia teammate Devin Willock who died in a car crash in January 2023. Due to Carter’s involvement in the tragic incident, he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges and served a probation sentence.
In the 49ers’ 42—19 win over the Eagles in Philadelphia on Dec. 3, Feliciano allegedly used details of the car crash to trash-talk Carter during the game.
Shortly after Carter’s accusations against Feliciano went viral, the 49ers guard gave his own side of the story, claiming that Carter threatened his life during the game and later harassed his family online.
Here’s Feliciano’s response on social media:
If you dish it you gotta be able to take it. He talked about my kids, I made that reference. I lost a friend to an accident too so I understand why he was upset. I did feel bad thought about apologizing until he started posting my kids on his IG then I had to get NFL involved.

Feliciano admitted he did make a reference to Willock during the 49ers-Eagles game but claimed Carter started the feud because “he talked about my kids.” Feliciano added that he reported the incident to the NFL.
As evidence, Feliciano posted a screenshot of Carter’s tagging him in an Instagram Story with a picture of the 49ers guard and his children.
Feliciano wrote in the caption, “The NFL has all the receipts. I’m pass all this tho. I hope the best for him. I take responsibility for my part.”
