John Daly Shoots 87 at Champions Tour Event in Morocco
Daly withdrew with an injury last week, and this week he returned only to find himself in last place through 36 holes.
John Daly started his week in Morocco walking camels through the desert, embracing some pre-tournament tourism ahead of the PGA Tour Champions event in Rabat, much to the delight of his 735,000 Instagram followers.
But now Daly finds himself in a position that isn’t so Instagram-worthy. The former Masters champion sits at the bottom of the leaderboard at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.
Daly, 57, carded a 14-over par 87 at the Trophy Hassan II on Friday. His round featured seven bogeys, two double bogeys, a quadruple bogey and just one birdie.
The two-time major champion fired a 76 during the tournament’s opening round, but his second round score saw his name drop to 66th place: dead last.
Daly made his PGA Tour Champions season debut at last week’s Chubb Classic but was forced to withdraw due to osteoarthritis in his left hand. The fan-favorite insisted he would push through the pain with the help of his medical team.
Unfortunately I had to WD yesterday for osteoarthritis in my left hand after my 2nd shot on 6 hitting the hard ground causing a flare up….hoping to get thru next 4 months after drs injections—-on to @ChampionsTour Morocco Thank you Dr Brian Wallace of Naples!… pic.twitter.com/FtB60w3crb

Y.E. Yang and Ricardo Gonzalez currently lead the Morocco event at 7-under. Angel Cabrera, the former Masters winner who was recently released from Argentinian prison, sits at 5-over and T39.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played on Saturday.
