Anthony Davis thinks the Lakers are clicking at the right time entering playoffs
In a season filled with ups and downs, Anthony Davis feels the Lakers are on the way up entering the postseason.
To get into the playoffs, the Lakers had a long stretch where every game felt essential. They responded to that pressure by going 18-8 through March and April to reach the No. 7 vs. No. 8 play-in game. They ultimately took care of business beating the New Orleans Pelicans to earn the seventh seed.
After the Lakers' play-in victory, Anthony Davis discussed the quality of play of the team entering the playoffs.
"I think we're clicking at the right time," Davis said. "We still have a lot to accomplish. Our goal wasn't to win 12 out of 15. Obviously, we're taking it one game at a time but I think we're clicking at the right time. Guys are playing well, guys are very confident, guys have found their rhythms and we're going to need it, especially in this series."
It's no secret the Lakers have struggled against the Denver Nuggets. Of all the stats we can spew regarding this matchup, the most glaring is the one that matters most: the Lakers have lost eight in a row to Denver. They were unable to get a win during last season's Western Conference Finals or any this regular season.
Still, this team is playing its best now and head coach Darvin Ham agrees with Davis that the Lakers are clicking on all cylinders.
"They're just playing basketball the right way. We're really having a lot of fun. There's been some challenging moments, no doubt; some challenging circumstances at times. But you can see the genuineness of the group and their joy that they get from playing with one another and the way we've been playing collectively is at a high level. We're in a great space right now at a perfect time."
The question remains, are they good enough to beat the Nuggets not just once but four times out of a possible seven? Can D'Angelo Russell redeem himself from last year's series? Or will they continue this Groundhog Day, losing late in the fourth again and again?
We won't have to wait long for answers as the Lakers begin their series against the Nuggets in Denver this weekend.
