Ben Sinnott Continues To Draw Lots Of Attention From Bears
Tight end isn’t the first position people think of when discussing the Chicago Bears’ draft plans. Those are reserved for pass rushers, wide receivers, offensive tackles, and defensive tackles. The team already has Cole Kmet and added quality veteran Gerald Everett in free agency. They seem set at the position. So it’s at least interesting that the team continues to explore potential options in the 2024 draft. These aren’t late rounders or future undrafted prospects, either. They met Georgia standout Brock Bowers, who will go in the 1st round. However, the name that seems to have their attention more than some other prospects is Ben Sinnott.
Justin Melo of The Draft Network revealed the team had a private visit with him. This comes after showing interest at the scouting combine as well. It isn’t hard to see why. The 6’4, 250 lb kid from Kansas State delivered a 40-inch vertical in Indianapolis and showcased lots of speed and route-running skill last season. Pass-catching tight ends are en vogue more than ever. While the Bears may have one in Kmet, there is no law that says they can’t have two or even three.
Ben Sinnott could be an option the Bears hope to snag on Day 2.
More specifically, in the 3rd round. GM Ryan Poles isn’t a stranger to finding stars in that range. That is where the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Travis Kelce. Sinnott has tons of upside. He can attack the seams and understands how to create space for himself. His best work tends to show up in the red zone. Remember that offensive coordinator Shane Waldron liked to run a lot of “12” personnel during his time in Seattle. That is a formation featuring two tight ends. There would be no shortage of opportunities with a trio of Kmet, Everett, and Sinnott.
Everything depends on how the board falls. The Bears have no picks after their two 1st rounders until the 75th in the 3rd round. If Ben Sinnott is still available when they go back on the clock, it wouldn’t be a shock to see them grab him. It may depend on what they do with the 9th pick. If they go with a wide receiver, as many expect, Poles may reserve the 3rd round selection for defensive help. Either way, the interest in Sinnott is easy to understand. He has loads of potential.
