I don't have time to chop vegetables for every meal, so instead, I mix and match the ingredients from Trader Joe's salad kits. During my most recent trip, I grabbed the broccoli-and-kale slaw and Southwestern chopped salad.

I usually throw away the included salad dressing, which is often high in fat, sugar, and sodium. Instead, I combine the salad ingredients and drizzle the dish with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

The salad kits I grabbed at my store were $4 each.

I love the crunchiness of jicama, but peeling off its thick, waxy skin can be daunting. Instead of chopping the vegetable myself, I get Trader Joe's precut jicama sticks, priced at $3.50 per pack, to snack on or add to salads.

If I'm craving a sweet-and-savory soup, I buy two packages of cubed butternut squash for $2.70 each. I throw the squash in a pot with chicken or vegetable broth, some sautéed onions and apples, cinnamon, and maple syrup.

Riced cauliflower is a great carb-conscious and easy-to-cook alternative to the grain.

I use Trader Joe's riced cauliflower, which has only 25 calories and 4 grams of carbohydrates per serving, as an alternative to rice.

The riced cauliflower can be cooked in the microwave or on the stovetop — I usually add it to stir-fry. On this trip, I bought a package for $2.70.

Nuts are my favorite nutrient-dense snack for healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, but it can be hard to stop eating them once I start.

Luckily, Trader Joe's Just a Handful of Omega Trek mix comes with individually packaged servings of nuts and fruit, just 170 calories each. I keep a few in my purse to satisfy my hunger when I'm out and about.

I bought a pack of 10 servings for $6.

I buy frozen-fruit mixes to enjoy throughout the year since I find they're generally sweeter than their fresh counterparts.

Plus, solid, frozen fruit makes a thicker, creamier smoothie. On my last visit to Trader Joe's, I bought frozen mango chunks for $3.30 and a fruits-and-greens smoothie blend for $4.

Poultry is easy enough to prepare on my own, but I love the ease of Trader Joe's grilled balsamic-vinegar-and-rosemary chicken. I also like to buy the chain's plain grilled chicken strips.

I keep the prepackaged chicken in my freezer and take it out to thaw when I get home. The chicken comes to room temperature fairly quickly, so I can have it on the table with a side of veggies or in a salad within an hour.

The balsamic-vinegar-and-rosemary chicken was $8, and the strips were $5.50 at my store.

I serve guests plantain chips because they're denser and crispier than many other salty snacks.

I also love that Trader Joe's plantain chips are made with sunflower oil. I grabbed a 6-ounce bag of plantain chips for $2.

I use Trader Joe's steamed lentils in quick side dishes or soups.

I never remember to soak lentils overnight, so I'm glad Trader Joe's legumes come ready to eat. The steamed lentils are a great soup starter or creamy side dish with goat cheese, chopped carrots, celery, and onion.

I bought a 17-ounce package for $3.30.

I use the Empire Kosher turkey half breast with rib meat to make sandwiches throughout the week.

I'm extremely picky about turkey breast because most versions I've tried are dried out, high in sodium, and very processed.

Trader Joe's is the only store in my neighborhood where I can find Empire Kosher split turkey breasts on the bone. I make Ina Garten's simple herb-roasted turkey breast and use the meat for sandwiches throughout the week.

The turkey breast at my location is $5 per pound, which comes out to about $21.

There's nothing like sitting down with a bowl of crispy fried-tortilla chips and Trader Joe's Avocado's Number Guacamole to Go packs.

Avocados contain healthy monounsaturated fats, so I've replaced mayonnaise-based salad dressings with guacamole. Each pack is pretty small, so I can eat the amount I need without worrying about leftovers browning.

My store sells a box of six 2-ounce guacamole packs for $4.
