My beat will be primarily the LGBT culture war against Judeo-Christian civilization, which has been the focus of my ministry since the 1980s. For over 30 years, I have served as a missionary to the global pro-family movement, traveling to all 50 U.S. states and 63 countries thus far in the various roles of attorney, pastor, author, political strategist and human rights consultant.

This has been a difficult and painful ministry that has tracked the slow, steady conquest of family-centered society and culture by the LGBTs – from the peak of American pro-family power in 1986 (when the Supreme Court strongly affirmed our perspective and values in Bowers v. Hardwick), to the dark and dangerous valley of “gay” cultural and political supremacy we’re now suffering. I’ve personally endured egregious persecution for championing the pro-family position: five major lawsuits, continuous media smears and character assassination, uncountable death threats and hate messages and, most difficult to bear, estrangement from a large and growing percentage of Christian leaders who fear associating with me either because they believe the false press, or worse, have compromised their faith and principles on the homosexual issue to avoid discomfort.

I confess I have several times wanted to leave this battlefield permanently, and have experienced times of grief and burn-out when I had to withdraw temporarily to the sidelines to preserve my sanity, but each time the Holy Spirit brought me back to the realization that this is the work He has given me and equipped me for. Indeed, He has shown me that a major part of my ministry is simply to be an example of courage in the face of persecution – which is frankly something He expects of every believer in times like these.

As Nehemiah was laboring to rebuild the city wall at Jerusalem in defiance of vicious and powerful enemies, word came that he was targeted for assassination, and he was urged to go and hide. “Let us meet at the house of God inside the temple,” said an aide, “Let us shut the temple doors because they are coming to kill you – by night they are coming to kill you!” But I replied, “Should a man like me run away? Should one like me go into the temple to save his own life? I will not go!” (Nehemiah 6:10-11)

Nehemiah’s response is exactly what the Lord wants each of us to say in response to the LGBT threat of personal destruction to those who oppose them. But instead, how many of God’s people have decided to hide in the church? With Nehemiah, I say, “I will not go!”

I intend to use this column as a forum through which both to teach the principles, presuppositions and perspectives of the pro-family movement and to expose and document the destructive beliefs, history and tactics of the LGBT movement. My goal is to produce a series of concise essays that could be used collectively as an educational and training manual for anyone seeking to understand and effectively respond to the LGBT agenda.

As frequently as possible, I will use current events as “teachable moments” to offer practical application of the facts and insights I want to share. That shouldn’t be hard, since the news is so often dominated by LGBT issues these days.

A case in point is the recent news of a famous Christian writer on sexual purity, Josh Harris, who renounced faith in Christ in a public statement that emphasized his change of heart on homosexuality:

“To the LBGTQ+ community, I want to say that I am sorry for the views that I taught in my books and as a pastor regarding sexuality. I regret standing against marriage equality, for not affirming you and your place in the church, and for any ways that my writing and speaking contributed to a culture of exclusion and bigotry.”

I believe the most critical battle of the culture war today – a battle almost no one is fighting and many don’t even register on their radar – is the Christendom-wide infiltration of “gay theology” (the revision of Scripture to declare homosexuality and transgenderism biblically approved). The Josh Harris plunge into apostasy is a poisonous fruit of that heresy, all the more important to highlight because of his enormous influence over Christian children and teens of the millennial generation, who are now in adulthood. Harris epitomizes the crisis of the millennial generation caused by “gay theology.”

The Harris incident also provides a teachable moment on the Bible’s perspective of “gay theology” – which I contend is the heresy of the last days warned about in 2 Peter 2. My most recent book, “The Petros Prophecy” (which you are free to download and share in PDF form) offers a comprehensive argument in support of that thesis, but consider how closely the first two verses fit what Harris has done: “Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them – bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow in their depravity, and because of them the way of truth will be defamed.” (2 Peter 2:1-2)

In the coming weeks and months, I will work to equip every believer and conservative ally to stand not just against “gay theology” and the many other aspects of the LGBT culture war, but to stand confidently for the biblical worldview on sexuality and family that undergirds authentic conservatism, this nation and Judeo-Christian civilization itself. I invite you to follow this column and to regularly share it with those around you – especially young people – as a part of your work for the Kingdom.
