Joe Biden has been a gaffe machine for, well, a long time.
He’s pulled some stunners, like the time he told a supporter confined to a wheelchair to stand up and let the crowd see him.
Or the time he noted a shooting in which “my good friend” Gabby Giffords was mortally wounded.
Only she wasn’t.
He also encountered two nuns outside of St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican and divined from their smiles that they agreed with him on immigration and gun control. At least that what he said.
One stunner was during an online town hall a few years ago Biden said, “If you want to protect yourself, get a double-barrel shotgun, just fire two blasts outside the house.” Didn’t say how that would provide further protection.
He’s mixed up senators, countries, and words.
And it’s not likely that voters in the 2020 presidential race will be able to forget.
The GOP is making sure of that, with a brand new video:
Fox News reports the video from President Trump’s re-election campaign spotlights those “recent” gaffes and fumbles.
It was posted on social media Tuesday by campaign manager Brad Parscale.
It “stitches together everything from his recent debate-stage musing about ‘record players’ to his statement that ‘poor kids’ are just as talented as ‘white kids,'” Fox reported. “Interspersed with the clips of the 76-year-old Biden’s comments are those of pundits wondering about his stumbles, shakiness, mental and physical stamina, whether he’s ‘lost a step’ and whether he’s ‘equipped for a very grueling campaign.'”
Among the criticisms of Biden at his age, 76, is one from former Housing Secretary Julian Castro, who openly demanded that Biden explain whether he’d forgotten something he’d said only two minutes earlier.
And Democrat nomination hopeful Cory Booker said, “I think we are at a tough point right now, because there’s a lot of people concerned about Joe Biden’s ability to carry the ball all the way across the end line without fumbling. And I think that Castro had really legitimate concerns about can he be someone in a long grueling campaign… and has every right to call out.”
Others in the Democratic race include Elizabeth Warren, who is 70, and Bernie Sanders, who is 77.
President Trump is 72.
But none of the others has the reputation for missing the message.
It was back in 2012, Biden said, “Folks, I can tell you I’ve known eight presidents, three of them intimately.”
