Alistair Overeem reflects on his devastating KO loss to Francis Ngannou.
Francis Ngannou is the real deal, as former Strikeforce and K-1 heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem found out last night at UFC 218.
Overeem, who has won world titles in multiple promotions, was brutally knocked out in the first round with an ‘uppercut from hell’.
That’s no exaggeration, as it took ‘The Reem’ several minutes to regain his consciousness and find his feet after being flattened by Ngannou’s monstrous uppercut.
Taking it in good stride and seemingly fully recovered, the Dutch heavyweight legend posted a short statement on social media to reassure fans that he’s OK.
No damage and all healthy thankfully.. unfortunately lost today. Props to @francis_ngannou, I got hit with a uppercut from he**, one of his specialities which we new were very dangerous. Some chill time now before back to the drawing-board

Overeem netted back-to-back wins over Mark Hunt and Fabricio Werdum before falling to Ngannou in the co-main event of Saturday’s blockbuster pay-per-view.
The 37-year-old is still considered one of the most dangerous men in the UFC and, as of today, is ranked as the number one heavyweight contender in the promotion. Expect the rankings to shift in the coming days, however, as UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Ngannou will challenge Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title.
