Dana White will be meeting with Conor McGregor on Monday to discuss his future in the UFC.
UFC president Dana White and Conor McGregor were originally scheduled to meet at last month’s UFC Fight Night event in Liverpool, England. But things fell through at the last minute for undisclosed reasons.
Both White and McGregor haven’t spoke in person since ‘The Notorious’ was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief in Brooklyn, New York after smashing the window of a fighter’s bus in the lead-up to UFC 223 earlier this year.
McGregor, the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, attended a court hearing yesterday and told the press that he regrets his actions and understands the ‘seriousness’ of the issue. The Irishman is expected to negotiate a plea deal when he returns to court next month, July 26.
White, who has always maintained a strong public relationship with McGregor, is expected to meet with the combat sports star on Monday to discuss what’s next.
”He and I are meeting on the 18th of this month,” Dana told TMZ in a recent interview (h/t MMA Fighting). “I don’t know whats gonna happen. I don’t know what Conor has planned. I don’t know what Conor and his team have worked on.”
White is interested in booking a lightweight championship showdown between McGregor and newly-crowned UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, but ‘The Eagle’ seems to be losing interest in the bout.
McGregor’s manager, Audie Attar, said the 29-year-old is focused on settling his legal issues before discussing any serious talk of a fight with Nurmagomedov.
