Undefeated Foothill remains in top spot; College Park, Benicia make big jumps.
Foothill has taken the debate element from the No. 1 spot in the Bay Area News Group softball rankings.
The Falcons are loaded with talent and continue to play like it.
In their only game last week, they routed Monte Vista 13-0.
After that, the rankings were, to put it bluntly, a mess.
Archbishop Mitty, No. 3 in the most recent Top 15, routed then-No. 2 St. Francis 11-0 on Friday, one of four wins for the Monarchs in the past week. But they also lost to then-unranked Valley Christian 6-0 on Tuesday.
St. Francis picked itself up from the ugly loss to Mitty, beating then-No. 4 Presentation 3-2 in eight innings Tuesday.
College Park did not play but is undefeated and has a win over Benicia that looks better and better each week.
Benicia, which already has a win over Amador Valley, beat Clayton Valley Charter and Heritage in the past week.
Santa Teresa nearly made the rankings with wins over Valley Christian and Presentation. But the Saints’ week also included a loss to Westmont, which is 3-6-2.
