Diego Costa facing season ban for ‘I s*** on your whore mother’ rant at referee in Atletico Madrid’s loss to Barcelona
DIEGO Costa could be banned for the rest of the season for shouting “I s*** on your whore mother” at the ref during Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 loss to Barcelona on Saturday.
Costa reacted badly to Jesus Gil Manzano’s decision not to award his side a free-kick and earned a red card for dissent after 27 minutes.
Manzano’s official report revealed how the former Chelsea man twice shouted “I s** on your whore mother”, according to Reuters journalist Richard Martin.
As a result, Costa is facing a lengthy ban that could reach eight games if La Liga authorities take a dim view of his outburst.
It means that Atletico could be without the forward for the rest of the campaign, given that there are only seven games left to play in the league and Madrid being out of all cup competitions.
However Diego Simeone’s side might find that there isn’t much to play for in the coming weeks anyway, with Saturday’s result dropping them 11 points behind leaders Barcelona.
Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi combined for a quickfire double after the staunch defence of the ten men finally yielded.
Afterwards, Atletico were left ruing yet another tricky trip to a stadium they haven’t won at since 2006.

Disciplinary issues have been a major hurdle to overcoming the Blaugrana and midfielder Koke made his unhappiness with the officiating clear.
“Whenever we come here, something happens,” the Spaniard told reporters.
“In the last 11 games, I think there have been seven red cards and not all of them have been fair.”
Costa rejoined Atletico from Chelsea in January 2018 but has struggled for goals alongside the mercurial Antoine Griezmann, registering just five times in La Liga since leaving Stamford Bridge.
