Josh Rosen thanks Cardinals, congratulates Kyler Murray in classy message
Josh Rosen could have been bitter, but he took the high road instead on his way out of Arizona.
In 48 hours, the Arizona Cardinals drafted the future of their franchise Thursday, selecting Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick, and then trading Josh Rosen to the Miami Dolphins on Friday.
It was the end to an awkward situation for Rosen. The Cardinals drafted him in 2018 after trading up, and he subsequently spent the last several months hearing speculation about his team considering drafting the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner out of Oklahoma this year. He notably unfollowed the Cardinals on social media as their accounts quickly filled up with images of Murray, and could you blame him?
The Cardinals handled the entire situation as poorly as possible, but now Rosen is getting a fresh start in Miami.
But instead of being bitter or holding a grudge against Arizona or even Murray, Rosen took the high road. In a classy move, he shared a video on Twitter on Saturday to thank the Cardinals, wish Murray luck and briefly talk about his future with the Dolphins.
Rosen said:
“Cardinals fans, thank you so much for all the continued support this past year. I know we didn’t win as many games as we all would have hoped, but I had an unbelievable time here in the desert. Unfortunately, my time here is coming to an end, but you guys are getting a hell of a player in Kyler Murray and he’s going to do great things for the Red Sea.
“Kyler, I just want to congratulate you and your family on getting drafted. Arizona’s a really special place, and you’re going to love playing and living here.
“To my teammates, staff, everyone who worked at the facility, I can’t thank you enough for all the support and great memories we’ve created this past year. I’m really wishing all of the Arizona Cardinals the best of luck moving forward.
“And Miami, I couldn’t be more excited to become a Dolphin. I’m ready to attack this new chapter of my life and give you guys everything I have each and every day. My bags are packed, and I’m on a flight first thing tomorrow morning. So get ready, South Florida, and go Fins.
“And Kyler, one more thing. An awesome two-bedroom in Old Town just came onto the market, so let me know if you’re interested. I think I could get you a pretty good deal.”
And somewhat hilariously, he also pitched presumably his own apartment in Arizona as a possible option for the franchise’s new quarterback.
