According to The Mirror, Chris Hughton’s Brighton have joined a host of La Liga sides that have expressed interest in Mata.
Brighton came into their 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday already safe due to Cardiff’s loss against Crystal Palace the day before, and are looking to build on life in the top flight next season.
Mata started in his side’s 1-1 draw against already relegated Huddersfield on Sunday but it was just the playmaker’s 16th league start all season.
The Spanish international has been a regular feature in United’s cup competition but has found himself snubbed on the big occasion.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans for a summer overhaul at Old Trafford though it may be Mata himself who decides to depart from the Premier League.

Spanish giants Barcelona, who knocked United out of the Champions League, and Atletico Madrid are thought to be interested in acquiring Mata on a free transfer.
The Spaniard’s international team-mate David de Gea is also yet to sign a contract extension and with one-year left on his deal the keeper has attracted attention from PSG and Juventus.
After a string of recent howlers it was reported De Gea was considering his future and PSG are willing to meet the £350,000 wage demands United chiefs had been stalling on.
