MANCHESTER UNITED look to have plenty still to do if they are to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
A 1-0 win against Norwegian minnows Kristiansund proved that despite the fact that it was only a friendly.
But what will concern boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is that the game featured Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and wonderkid Mason Greenwood – and none of them could score.
The gaffer made 11 changes on 60 minutes, but there weren’t too many who will look back on this as a spectacle.
For the record, Juan Mata was felled in the 90th minute by the keeper and scored from the penalty.
Here SunSport rates the United player’s performance against their Scandinavian opponents.
David De Gea: 6
Spaniard will have busier days at the office as Kristiansund focussed on keeping United out.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 5
Like his keeper, had little to do. Needs to work on his production going forwards.
Phil Jones: 7
One of the busiest players going forwards with a header saved and even tried an overhead kick.
Victor Lindelof: 6
Tidy in possession but not tested defensively.
Luke Shaw: 7
Covered some ground down the left flank and looks to be in superb shape. A constant threat.
Scott McTominay: 8
Hit the post and fired a long-range effort over in a busy performance for the young Scot.
Nemanja Matic: 5
Did not really get into the game and looks a shadow of his former self.
Dan James: 7
Last-ditch tackle stopped him getting his first goal but plenty to get excited about after the Welsh flier showed off his defence-splitting pace.
Jesse Lingard: 8
Tore around the field trying to make an impact and was at the heart of several promising moves.
Anthony Martial: 6
Had one of United’s best first-half efforts but did not manage to find much space.
Marcus Rashford: 6
Some sloppy play saw him give the ball away but ran hard without much reward against a defensive blockade.
Second half XI
Sergio Romero: 6
Hardly touched the ball as United dominated the closing stages.
Diogo Dalot: 7
Showed off some silky footwork as he tried to get something going on the attack.
Axel Tuanzebe: 7
Looks a real prospect and could well fight his way into the first team this season.
Marcos Rojo: 6
Argie had few chances to show off his skills as he was outshone by his young centre-back partner.
Ashley Young: 6
Took the armband from De Gea, little to do in defence but tidy on the ball.
Fred: 7
Almost broke the deadlock with a long-range curler that flew just wide.
Paul Pogba: 6
Tried his best to break down a stubborn defence but had no luck.
Andreas Pereira: 5
Played for 30 minutes but largely anonymous in midfield.

Tahith Chong: 6
Positive on the ball and always looks to find spaces between defence and midfield. Has a bright future.
Juan Mata: 8
Won and took the winning penalty after coming on for the last 30 minutes.
Mason Greenwood: 7
Looked good in the build-up and always tried to test the keeper. A threat on either foot.
