He can take his game to the next level. He is an improving stayer who took the Ascot Stakes at the Royal meeting before leaving that form behind in Listed company at Sandown last time. He has more to come for in-form Andrew Balding.

HOLLOWAY BOY (2.25 Goodwood, nb)

He was good enough to win the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot on debut and can take another step forward here. He was going away from his rivals at the line and he looks hard to beat.

MISCHIEF MAGIC (4.45 Goodwood, treble)

He showed promise when third on debut here last time despite being stuck out wide. That sighter of the track will help and he should improve.

Templegate’s race-by-race guide

BELL ROCK was third in this race two years ago and is back at Goodwood for the first time since from a lower mark even before his excellent claimer takes over.

He likes this trip and looks a big price. The form of the John Smith’s Cup looks strong so Brilliant Light and Just Fine are big dangers.

They both had trouble in running at York before finishing well and like this trip.

Arqoob had lots up his sleeve when winning at Sandown latest and a 4lb rise in the weights gives him every chance.

West End Charmer has been running in stronger races and trainer Mark Johnston does well at this meeting.

Legend Of Dubai will be happier back at this trip after not staying at Royal Ascot, while Karibana has been flying on the all-weather and has place claims.

Dear My Friend clocked a good time when winning by five lengths at Beverley and deserves to tackle this stronger race.

Mysterious Night came up a bit short in the July Stakes at Newmarket but it was still a decent effort to finish third and moving up in trip looks a wise move.

Dark Thirty was behind him when they met at Newbury in May. He ran well in the Chesham and at Newmarket and has place claims.

Dornoch Castle didn’t have to break sweat when scoring over this trip at Ayr and has a lot more to come, as does Marbaan who is proven over this distance.

SACRED finished like a train when beaten less than a length in the Group 1 Platinum Jubilee over 6f at Royal Ascot last time.

She won two hot contests over this extra furlong last season and can build on that comeback.

Pogo is in the middle of a purple patch and was impressive when taking Criterion at Newmarket.

He’ll keep it simple from the front so traffic problems won’t be an issue.

Laneqash deserves a crack at this company after a good Listed win at Chester.

He likes this trip and had plenty up his sleeve on the Roodee so has place claims.

Lusail is a proven Group 1 performer over this trip and has more to come with few miles on the clock.

Trueshan is one of the best stayers on the planet – if the ground is soft.

He was brilliant when taking the Northumberland Plate on the all-weather at Newcastle giving stones away and he won this well 12 months ago.

But there’s no rain in the forecast so we’re not likely to see Alan King’s star.

Assuming the ground won’t be to his liking, COLTRANE can take his game to the next level.

He is an improving stayer who took the Ascot Stakes at the Royal meeting before leaving that form behind in Listed company at Sandown last time.

He has more to come for in-form Andrew Balding.

Andrea Atzeni is under pressure on Stradivarius as he takes over from Frankie Dettori.

Connections blamed the Italian for his third in the Ascot Gold Cup when he had to switch around rivals and couldn’t catch up in the final furlong.

He has won this four times so clearly loves the place and is respected.

But Kyprios beat him fair and square in that race and his younger legs can help him confirm that form.

That was the first time he’d gone beyond 1m6f and he clearly loved it.

Princess Zoe will give her all, as usual, and can be forgiven her Ascot Gold Cup sixth after suffering heat stress on the day.

She’s a proven Group 1 performer but is another who would ideally like some rain.

EQUALITY didn’t get the run of the race at Royal Ascot on the back of an excellent third in the Dash at Epsom.

He likes this trip and has had a little help from the handicapper. He looks capable of winning a big handicap like this.

Stone Of Destiny is tumbling down the weights and the booking of top claimer Harry Davies takes the eye. He likes this trip and should run well.

Celsius comes here in hot form after a good win at Newmarket.

He saves his best for this distance and a 5lb rise in the weights looks fair for this improving sprinter.

Dusky Lord finished strongly behind him and isn’t discounted.

Rayong enjoyed dropping to this distance when a close third at Pontefract 11 days ago.

Trainer Karl Burke is in cracking form and this five-year-old can figure at long odds.

Indian Creak is consistent and has a chance if coping with this much bigger field than he’s used to at a track he likes.

MISCHIEF MAGIC showed promise when third on debut here last time despite being stuck out wide.

That sighter of the track will help and he should improve.

Chartwell House has gone well twice at Windsor where he was just pipped last time.

That was a good effort and he doesn’t need much more.

Master Of Chant was a close second on debut at Newbury despite looking very green.

He seemed to have lots left in the tank.

Supreme King went close on debut at Haydock and Ryan Moore takes over.

Celtic Champion wasn’t asked too many questions on debut at Windsor and has more to come.

CRYSTAL CAPRICE can make a winning start to her handicapping career for Sir Michael Stoute.

She was an impressive eight-length winner at Yarmouth and the handicapper has been fair with the opening mark for this Frankel filly.

System improved for moving up to this distance when a neck second at Ascot.

She’s been upped 3lb for that but will be right in the mix again.

Breaking Light had lots in hand when scoring over 7f at Haydock.

She gives the impression that moving up to the mile won’t be an issue.

Flame Of Freedom went close at Epsom and trainer Eve Johnson Houghton is in excellent form.

CRAZY LUCK did well to win a strong contest at Chester last time when having to wait for a gap.

She picked up strongly once in the clear and her rider’s claim takes care of a 3lb rise in the weights.

This trip suits as does any ground.

Loves Me Likearock was just behind the tip on the Roodee and won’t be far away again off the same mark.

Kidwah looks a big threat for William Haggas. She won a Redcar maiden before a solid handicap debut at Newmarket on just her third run.

Kimngrace scored here last month and matched that form when beaten in a Haydock photo dropped to 5f last time.
