Why the Astros closed the Minute Maid Park roof for Game 1 of the ALCS vs. Yankees
Here's the reason behind why the roof is closed in Houston.
If you’re watching Wednesday’s Game 1 of the ALCS at Minute Maid Park between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros, you may notice something quirky.
The roof in Houston is closed.
The weather forecast is in the low 60s on Wednesday night. So what’s the deal here? Is it because it’ll be cold?
We don’t know much beyond the decision to close it for Game 1 and we’ll see about Game 2. We do know that, per Axios, “The Astros typically close the roof for night games below 65 degrees, according to MLB.com.”
But we also know that it could get louder in there for the Yankees when they hear it from Astros fans.
Astros said the roof at Minute Maid Park will be closed tonight. TBD for tomorrow night.
