Art, more art, in Hudson
NYC gallery veterans decide to show works in multiple venues in Columbia County town
The past year has seen the opening of several new art galleries, including Galerie Gris, Concepto and (most recently and with the most buzz) Retrospective.
Most everything about Retrospective is different from Mesler and Feuer's spaces in New York, starting with the exhibition space itself, which isn't permanent.
The current space at 727 Warren St. sports a checkerboard floor with tiles missing.
Feuer, who has lived with his family just outside of Hudson for a decade, recently sat down to talk about the new venture:
In the city we have a fairly traditional model, where we represent 12 artists, we put up exhibitions by them every two years and we manage their careers.
[...] here it's really one shot, sort of experimental projects.
Are you're always going to have satellite exhibitions?
There's a lot of anxiety about having a retrospective and this pretense of something being big and final and the shows here are the opposite of that.
