Teen motorcyclist dies after being hit by drunk driver
A 17-year-old boy named as Iannis Nicolaou, died in a traffic accident on Saturday evening, police said on Sunday.
While a 54-year-old driver was moving along Stavroaetou in Strovolos, Nicosia at around 6.20pm under circumstances still under investigation, he crashed into the motorcycle being driven by Nicolaou.
The teen was taken by ambulance to Nicosia general hospital where his death was confirmed at around 8pm.
An alcotest carried out on the driver showed a reading of 63μg, while the permitted level is 22μg.
He was arrested.
