Narek Karapetyan: Strong diplomacy, not strong army, should be main tool of future Armenian authorities

As a reminder, on March 19, Pashinyan accused opposition forces of intending to renegotiate the terms of peace with Azerbaijan, which "could lead to a new war."
"Pashinyan is again promising peace. But what kind of peace is this if it previously led to three wars, the loss of Artsakh, and a significant military disadvantage in the balance of power compared to Azerbaijan?" Karapetyan noted. The politician called the South Caucasus a potential hub for peaceful trade. According to him, Armenia's long-term security is possible with the participation of several guarantors in the region during the peace agreement process. Narek Karapetyan emphasized that the pursuit of such an agreement should be a priority, rather than a "weak peace," in which the country's security would depend on the will of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"Such guarantors exist in the region, as the South Caucasus is located at the crossroads of East and West trade routes and could become the most peaceful route. At the same time, the guarantor format should cover both the North-South and West-East directions. Armenia can become an oasis of peace in the region with strong leadership," Karapetyan emphasized. He recalled that when Pashinyan came to power, the defense potential ratio between Armenia and Azerbaijan was two and a half times in Baku's favor, but now the gap has widened to eight times.
