It's getting close to time for the next major revision of the non-subscription version of Office. Office 2019 is expected to be launched in the second half of this year. Microsoft calls this the “perpetual” version of Office because you pay a one-time fee for it and own it forever, and it doesn’t get upgrades until the next major version is released.

Microsoft will start distributing the next Windows 10 feature upgrade, "Windows 10 April 2018 Update," today - a few weeks later then it had been expected to arrive.

Coded-named Redstone 4, the new release is called, imaginatively, the Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

Office 365 subscribers always have the latest version of Microsoft Office — currently Office 2016. They also get more frequent software updates than those who have purchased Office 2016 without a subscription, which means subscribers have access to the latest features, security patches and bug fixes. With Microsoft now rolling out the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803, I take it as an article of faith that you don’t want to install it right away. As we’ve seen, repeatedly, upgrading to a new version of Windows 10 as soon as it’s out leads to madness. For almost everyone, the new features in version 1803 — Timeline, a few moved settings, more telemetry options but not the one (“OFF”) that matters most, faster upgrades — just aren’t worth the bother of installing and setting up an entirely new copy of Windows.
