SAN FRANCISCO – Google on Wednesday announced a slew of enhancements to G Suite, its productivity suite that includes Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Hangouts Chat and a variety  of other business apps. The additions, many of them still in beta, are aimed at boosting users’ productivity, helping them work with external collaborators and services, and giving organizations more control and insight over enterprise data.

“We’ve always been shameless about stealing great ideas,” Apple’s Steve Jobs famously said.

Pretty much the same week Google disbanded their Artificial Intelligence Ethics Board – once again showcasing an inability to lead their own company (this is becoming a really bad problem for Google) – I was reminded of Microsoft Responsible AI program.

This month’s Patch Tuesday sent many Windows users running for cover. As I reported on Wednesday morning, Win7 and 8.1 machines running Sophos antivirus products frequently refused to boot. The dragnet has since expanded, with both Avira and Avast now admitting their products are having problems, and rumors are swirling about many other antivirus manufacturers.

In another example of how fiat and digital currencies are converging in the financial services industry, Visa on Thursday unveiled a debit card that lets users buy things with fiat money converted from cryptocurrency stored in online wallets.

It’s big iron days at a military base, recalls pilot fish who was there, and a new, bigger and faster mainframe computer is installed in a somewhat temporary computer center. 
Installation goes great and everything checks out OK.
Until a day later, when the new mainframe dies. Shortly after, it is brought up and it runs fine again.
Until the next day, when it dies once again. Engineers are on site and check things out. All diagnostics run with no errors; the system is good.
