Israelis keep up protests against halted judicial reforms

France24.com (en)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hard-right government's proposals would curtail the authority of the Supreme Court and give politicians greater powers over the selection of judges. Opponents regard them as a threat to Israeli democracy and US President Joe Biden is one of several Israeli allies to have voiced concern. In March, Netanyahu announced a "pause", allowing for President Isaac Herzog to host talks on the divisive reforms. On Wednesday, however, opposition leaders Yair Lapid and... Читать дальше...

He followed up with a two-under 68 for a tournament record-equalling 36-hole total of 130, finding eight birdies amid six bogeys as the course finally began to firm up and look like a classic US Open challenge. "It's not that easy out there," Fowler said. "Yes, I've made a lot of birdies, and that is doable out there.

His 15th Test century was particularly valuable given Australia had earlier collapsed to 67-3 in response to England's 393-8 declared. Only two teams will make it through and the field is stacked with countries just as strong in crucial areas as the West Indies. Читать дальше...
