Police in North Yorkshire say a motorist called an emergency dispatcher to report that he was driving drunk and didn't know what he was doing. Police say they located the man in a van on the side of the road on Monday. He was arrested after a breath test revealed he was three times over the legal limit. The 52-year-old old was released from custody after being charged Tuesday with drunken driving.

Rhode Island officials say a coyote killed by a hiker has tested positive for rabies. Police say the hiker killed the coyote with his bare hands on Friday after being bitten on the leg while walking in the woods in Johnston. Officials say the same coyote is believed to be responsible for attacking a dog walker the day before in nearby Scituate, as well. It’s unusual for healthy coyotes to attack humans. Officials say this makes the third report of a rabid coyote in Rhode Island since 1994.

Authorities believe the shooting late Monday is tied to drug trafficking. CSX says a cargo train derailed in rural West Virginia, but no injuries were reported and no cars containing hazardous materials lost their contents. CSX and Morgan County officials say the train derailed around 4:15 p.m. Monday and the nine derailed cars contained dry cement, calcium chloride and sodium hydroxide. Morgan County 911 says no evacuation was needed because of the remote location.
