WEEKEND ROUND UP   South Antrim 2-2 Bangor (W.Phillips, A.Glass)   The torrential rain leveled the playing field a bit, with individual skill playing far less of a part than good basics, South should still have been confident to win nevertheless but had to settle for a draw in a gritty game where neither team played good hockey. MINIS We start back on Saturday 10th September, 8.30 to 9.30 at Laurelhill Sportszone again. Our membership is currently full with waiting lists in operation for all age groups. MIDWEEK ROUND UP South Antrim Ladies 3rds 7-0 Ards 5ths (L.McConnell x2, L.Fitzpatrick x2, R.Sullivan, J.Morrow, E.Aiken) The Ladies 3rds played their final game for the season on home turf tonight against Ards 5ths. The girls recorded an emphatic 6 or 7 nil win which sees them finish 7th in Junior 7. Of course, as they already knew, they are relegated to Junior 8 next year. WEEKEND ROUND UP South Antrim 3rds 3-3 Mossley 4ths (G.Glass x2, N.Alister) The 3rds win the Junior 4 title after they gained a point in a nail biting away game to Mossley 4ths. It looked like they were going to win at a canter after going 3-0 up from goals from George Glass and a 3rd from Nathan Alister. But Mossley clawed it back to 3-3 to make it a very nervy end to the game. Superb from all the boys and a well deserved trophy!

WEEKEND PREVIEW South Antrim 3rds v Mossley 4ths The 3rds can win the league with a point away to Mossley. This Mossley 4ths side sits in 3rd so it won’t be an easy game. Hopefully George Glass is on form up front and likewise for star player Peter Davis in centre back. I believe this is the last game for the club this season. So a huge thanks to everyone on committee for organizing and to all you paying members for playing!

MIDWEEK ROUND UP South Antrim 5ths 7-3 Portadown 3rds (I.McElhinney x2, A.Glass Jnr x2, M.Bell, J.Cochrane, S.Geary) The 5ths performed far better than their 4th XI counterparts against Portadown 3rds on Wednesday night. Ian McElinney started the scoring by turning in a Jamie Cochrane rebound. Portadown equalised before South went ahead via Adam Glass Jnr after a Portadown short broke down. WEEKEND ROUND UP   South Antrim 3rds FORFEIT WIN Portrush 2nds   Portrush failed to get a team together to travel down so conceded the points. The guys only need a draw from their remaining game against Mossley 4ths to secure the league title.   South Antrim 4ths 0-3 Portadown 3rds   I think I jinxed it, the 4ths lose at home to Portadown 3rds. WEEKEND PREVIEW:   South Antrim 3rds v Portrush 2nds   The 3s need at least a point to keep their title hopes alive. However, they did lose to Portrush 4-2 just 3 weeks ago. This one is at Prospect Hill on home turf, Ashley will demand a win.   South Antrim 4ths v Portadown 3rds   The 5ths beat this Portadown side recently, wouldn’t it be embarrassing for Gaz’s 4ths to lose? CLUB DINNER ROUND UP: Firstly, the club would like to thank Dunmurry Golf Club for the wonderful food and putting up with us. Also a big shout out to Willy Redpath Jnr who organised the night. Enough though the season hasn’t quite ended for a number of our teams, several awards were given out last night. Those awards that were not given out are to be presented at the AGM later this month.
