Audit questions $10 million in funds used by Oklahoma DHS
OKLAHOMA CITY – A state audit questions the Oklahoma Department of Human Services’ use of $10 million in federal funds to assist needy families with adoption expenses. The audit says DHS didn’t determine whether the families qualified for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, considering them “child only cases.” DHS spokeswoman Sheree Powell told The Associated Press Wednesday the agency thought TANF funding followed an eligible child, just as federal foster care funding follows a child into adoption.
