However, the firefighters were unable to reach Missy.
After nearly 24 hours in the treetops, Leanne eventually forked out £100 to hire a cherry picker to finally rescue her feathered friend.
And she got in it herself to bring Missy back.
Leanne said: “Missy hadn’t flown before and so it was completely my fault.
“I was sat in the garden having lunch with Missy on the table with me, pinching a bit of food off my nephew’s plate.

“But she then took off and got stuck on the guttering of the flat opposite.
“I was trying to call her down but there were loads of seagulls flying around.
“She couldn’t figure out how to swoop down, so went in a circle.
“She was bullied a bit by the seagulls and went over my house.
“By the time I’d got round the back, I didn’t know where she was.”
She was eventually located up a tree in a nearby garden — but night was falling.
Toni-Anne scaled the tree the next day, but got stuck and needed rescuing by fire crews with a 36ft ladder.
Sister Leanne was then forced to pay £100 for the cherry picker to rescue Missy.
Leanne, of Trowbridge, Wilts, is terrified of heights but got in the cherry picker and was raised to tree level, where she was able to pluck Missy to safety.
She said: “I didn’t want to risk her flying off. She let me pick her up and was kissing me all over my face.
“She was freezing cold and hungry but she was fine.”
Leanne added: “I was shaking like a leaf.
“Just don’t assume a baby parrot can’t fly!”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: “We of course understand the emotional attachments to pets of any species.
“But please take this incident as a reminder of the danger posed by attempting to rescue without specialist assistance.”
