EVER wondered if your cleaning products can ‘go bad’?
Lucky for you, a professional organizer has revealed exactly how to store your cleaning products properly so they can remain effective as long as possible.

KEEP THEM OFF THE FLOOR
For all fellow parents, this is especially important for you.
Expert Malaika Lubega told Martha Stewart that you shouldn’t store any of your cleaning products on the floor.
Instead, store them in cool and dry areas. She advised tucking them out of reach on a shelf, door rack, utility closet, laundry room, or the garage.
However, if you don’t have space, she suggested storing them in a dry, labeled container and putting them in a locked cabinet.

IT’S BETTER IN THE GARAGE
As far as the safest place for cleaning solutions, a certified building biologist, Marilee Nelson, recommended the garage.
She explained: “People don’t realize that having toxic cleaners scattered throughout their home creates a low-level chemical soup that everyone in the family breathes and absorbs through the skin 24/7.”
In fact, she revealed that removing the toxic chemicals from inside your home will enhance not only the quality of the air you take in but your health.

A DRY AREA IS KEY
Wherever you do decide to keep your cleaning products, Marilee suggested it be in a dry area and to avoid any with high humidity.
If you don’t, it can cause an unsafe reaction. For this reason, it’s best to avoid any areas near ignition sources and hot pipes.
And when using the cleaning solutions, only bring in what you need into your house and be sure to have any type of ventilation so you’re not breathing in the toxic fumes.
GROUP PRODUCTS FOR EASY ACCESS
Once you’ve gathered the products you use on a daily basis, Malaika recommended storing them in an easy spot to access, like under the sink.
Her point? They need to remain together.
MAKE YOUR OWN STORAGE SPACE
If you don’t have enough space to tuck away your products, create one.
Just place the cleaning solutions in a shut-tight container and tuck them wherever you can.
But more importantly, be sure to separate products with heavy chemicals from others to prevent cross-contamination.
Malaika advised: “Store like-items together in clear bins, so you can see clearly what you have.
“Separate and label floor cleaners, bathroom cleaners, and kitchen cleaners.”
MORE HACKS
And now that you’ve learned how to properly store your cleaning products, you can add these extra four from Target that a mom claimed are the key to a spotless bathroom.
Along with keeping your bathroom clean, the four easy-to-find products the woman recommended are also to keep your bathroom smelling fresh.
After going through what seemed to be an endless amount of cleaners, one of her favorites for the toilet is the Scrubbing Bubbles Power Stain Destroyer toilet bowl cleaner.
She guaranteed: “This is by far the best toilet cleaner.”
