[FRND] KC Chiefs set to host High School Football event Friday at Friends University
WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas City Chiefs and football fans will want to mark their calendar for this Friday (June 10), as the Chiefs are set to host an "11-on Powered by Nike" high school football event at Friends University.
Per the Chiefs, the "11-On" initiative is a unique, half-day, team experience that supports scholastic high school football team competition. It focuses on building character and life skills along with team foundations throughout the exciting, fast-paced, competitive event.
Eight high school football teams are scheduled to participate, including: Andover Central, Derby, Hutchinson, Lee's Summit North, Maize, Pratt, Wichita East & Wichita Northwest.
The event will feature 7-on-7 games and position-specific drills.
In addition to the exciting on-field competition, the Chiefs are bringing a Lombardi Trophy display for photo opportunities. The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission will also open an auction of autographed items for Chiefs players at Friday's event to help raise money for families who were impacted by the recent tornado in Andover, Kansas.
Additionally, USA Football will run a youth football clinic for ages 5-14 from noon-5 pm and the Chiefs Training LAB powered by GEHA will also be onsite. The Chiefs Training Lab is a mobile, interactive experience that focuses on educating youth the importance of health and wellness issues.
Parents with children interested participating in the youth football clinic will need to sign a waiver HERE.
The event is free to attend and will begin at 9 am and conclude at 5 pm.
