Europe's top human rights court ruled on Tuesday that the Swiss government had violated the human rights of its citizens by failing to do enough to combat climate change, in a decision that will set a precedent for future climate lawsuits.

A French water charity sounded the alarm Monday about pollution in the Seine just over 100 days before the start of the Olympics when the river is set to be used for swimming events. Surfrider Foundation said it had analysed six months of tests over winter undertaken by a laboratory and concluded that the river water remained polluted and potentially dangerous.

Hamas said Tuesday it was considering a new truce framework proposed during the latest talks in Cairo, as Palestinians returning to their homes in southern Gaza confronted the extent of destruction left after Israeli troops' withdrawal. In a statement Italy's top flight requested that football federation (FIGC) prosecutors probe chants from both sets of supporters directed at Roma striker Romelu Lukaku and Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
