Breath Of The Wild Guardian Tumbles Down Several Cliffs After Death
One Breath Of The Wild player sends a fallen Guardian tumbling down several cliffs, leading it to explode when it lands in the river below.
Defeating a hulking Guardian in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is no small feat, and now one player has managed to send one rolling down several hills into the abyss below. Link often finds himself facing off against these colossal, squid-like automatons in his quest to reunite the ancient Champions of Hyrule and save the kingdom from Calamity Ganon, and they prove to be extremely formidable opponents. Despite initially being built to protect Hyrule, the Guardians were corrupted when Calamity Ganon rose, and now use their devastating laser blasts to annihilate anything and anyone foolish enough to cross their path.
While the Guardians are an extremely powerful enemy in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, they aren’t without their weaknesses. Link can use his trusty arrows to damage the creature’s eye before it can fire its deadly laser, and Guardians are especially vulnerable to mystical weapons like the Master Sword and Ancient Arrows. Some players have discovered certain glitches to help them take down Guardians, including one that renders them unable to attack Link while inside a Major Test Of Strength Shrine in BOTW and another that completely neutralizes the colossal machine.
While Reddit user nokrow889 didn’t use any of these tricks to take down a Guardian during a session of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, their defeat of the gigantic enemy is still noteworthy due to how it ended. As shown in a brief gameplay clip nokrow889 recently posted to r/Zelda, Link is locked in a fierce battle against this Guardian atop the hills of Eldin Canyon when he finally deals a finishing blow. This flips the Guardian over and sends it tumbling dramatically down into the river at the bottom of the Canyon, where it explodes upon impact. The lengthy, almost cartoonish descent of the Guardian is an amusing end for such an intimidating foe, but unfortunately for nokrow889, the incredible distance covered by the machine means they can’t collect the valuable Guardian parts left behind after death.

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild’s large and unpredictable open world has been home to many wild and seemingly random in-game events, with players recording these strange occurrences and sharing them on social media. Some of these involve players uncovering clever tricks, like acquiring the legendary Master Sword much sooner than expected by setting up a simple campfire for the night or fooling the thieving Yiga Clan into stealing ancient treasure from their own base. Others are the work of BOTW’s AI, like when sheep huddle realistically under a tree during a rainstorm. Even Link’s enemies can get involved in the fun, like when Hyrule’s hero teaches a reptilian Lizaflos to play Soccer with one of his Remote Bombs or trapping a Lynel with a few well-placed Cryonis Runes.
This rings true for Guardians as well, given that Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild players have used those same Cryonis Runes to send the great mechs hurling into the air. What goes up must also come down, as proven by nokrow889 sending one of the might Guardians tumbling downhill into a watery abyss. Little moments like these add to the entertainment value of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, even as Nintendo continues work on the game’s currently untitled sequel.
