CELEBRITY vicar Richard Coles was told off by Facebook for offensive language after writing about faggots and peas.
The gay Church of England priest, 59, said his post about the Black Country delicacy was removed by the tech giant which mistook it for homophobic hate speech.
Vicar Richard Coles has been told off for the comments he made on Facebook[/caption]The dish dates back centuries and gained new popularity during World War Two rationing.
But Richard, who starred on BBC’S Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, wrote online: “Got nicked by Facebook for posting about Black Country delicacy ‘f@ggots and peas’.”
“It’s minced up pork, liver and onions made into a sort of loose meatball and baked in a rich gravy, served with peas and mash.”
Last year, Facebook had to apologise after it tried to censor a community group for using the same term.
Tory MP Mike Wood, for Dudley South, said: “It’s a shame Facebook can’t tell the difference between Black Country grub and hate speech.”
Facebook said the post was removed in error.
Richard, whose partner David died in 2019, has revealed he is retiring from his parish in Finedon, Northants, in April.
