How To Get Free COVID Tests Online From The USPS | Screen Rant
U.S. residents can order four free at-home COVID tests per address from the USPS, and the tests can be ordered online using a new portal.
The U.S. government is delivering on its promise to provide every residential address and P.O. Box with free at-home COVID tests through a new online portal. The plan to provide at-home COVID tests was announced by the White House at the end of 2021. By the start of 2022, a new online ordering system was created to process test orders that begin to ship at the end of January. Using the infrastructure of the U.S. Postal Service, the federal government hopes to provide free tests to every address as quickly as possible through the mail.
Though U.S. President Biden has pledged to order over 500 million at-home COVID tests to be made available for Americans, it's not clear when those tests will be available. USPS. is attempting to combat the demand for the tests by limiting orders per household. However, due to the rise in COVID cases around the United States, the tests could become out of stock.
To order the free COVID tests, simply go to the USPS website. The ordering form can also be found using the covidtests.gov page but it requires a few extra clicks to request the tests. Enter the contact information, including name and address. An email address is strongly recommended in order to access the package tracking for the COVID tests, but is not required. After all the information is inputted, click on the green "Check Out Now" button to order the tests. No credit card or other form of payment is required to order the at-home kits. Currently, an internet connection is required to place an order, but for users without access to the internet, the federal government is also taking orders by phone at 1-800-232-2033.
A common error when placing an order for the tests is the message, "At-home COVID-19 tests have already been ordered for this address." The postal service recommends users receiving this error first check with other people living at their residence to see if they have already ordered tests. No matter how many residents live at the same address, only four tests can be ordered per residence. If no one else has ordered tests, users should attempt to place the order again. People in need of additional testing to diagnose COVID-19 symptoms can find local testing sites through the Department Health and Human Services online portal.
Tests can only be delivered to residential addresses and P.O. Boxes in the United States and its territories, including the American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Wake Island, and the Northern Mariana Islands. That means that any commercial address will receive an error message in the ordering process. If an address cannot be validated, USPS offers a lookup tool to help find the correct address in its system. Once the order is confirmed, the COVID tests will be delivered within two weeks, and can be tracked via the postal service's website.
