Hayk Demoyan: an exhibition will be opened on April 24 at Armenian Genocide Institute dedicated to 50th anniversary of Tsitsernakaberd Memorial
ArmInfo. An exhibition will be opened on April 24 at Armenian Genocide Institute dedicated to 50th anniversary of Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, Hayk Demoyan, the Director of Armenian Genocide Institute Museum stated during the press
conference held in Yerevan on April 21.
"This is an interesting year, this year we commemorate 50th
anniversary of Tsitsernakaberd foundation". The decision was taken
to open an exposition on April 24 dedicated to the history of
Memorial raising-from design arrangements, ground works and up to its
opening in 1967", Demoyan said. And in this context he added that
it's a good opportunity to summarize 50-year path.
Following his words, the exposition entitled as From Genocide to
Independence Recovery, opened in September last year and dedicated to
25th anniversary of Armenian Independence, will be opened for
visitors on April 24 as well. "We decided to present this temporary
exposition on April 24, because many of those who wanted to view it
in September last year could not do that due to various reasons. And
in May this year many items of exhibition are to be returned to their
owners. It will be another opportunity to view this pretty
interesting exposition", Demoyan said.
At the same time he stressed it's already two years that the Armenian
Genocide Museum is open for visitors after rehabilitation, and one
could confidently state that almost every day it is visited by
Turkish tourists.
Talking about the performance of the Museum in general, Demoyan noted
that this year was a pretty successful one. "In June 2016 Germany not
only adjudicated Armenian Genocide, but also accepted its' deal of
fail in respect to this tragedy. Another significant event is the
opening of second permanent exhibition in Riga, dedicated to Armenian
Genocide in Ottoman Empire. During May-Dec 2016 the exhibition has
been visited by 15 thousand people. I think this figure is
significant enough", Demoyan said.
