Ted Cruz will reportedly announce Wednesday that Carly Fiorina will be his vice presidential nominee if he is chosen as the Republican Party's nominee for president, sources told The Associated Press and Politico. Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard CEO, ended her own bid for the nomination after finishing poorly in New Hampshire in February.

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert was sentenced to 15 months in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to breaking federal banking rules in order to cover up his sexual abuse of high school wrestlers while he was a coach decades ago. It was also revealed that among Hastert's alleged victims was Scott Cross, the brother of Hastert's political ally, Illinois Rep. Tom Cross. Hastert apologized to the court for "mistreating some of my athletes."

A more restrained Donald Trump appeared in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, deviating from his usual off-the-cuff speeches to deliver a scripted address on foreign policy. "America first will be the major and overriding theme of my administration," Trump said.

More than half of Americans think Donald Trump just might have a point about the country's presidential nominating process being "rigged," according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. The poll finds that 51 percent of likely voters agree the current system is stacked against certain candidates, with 71 percent wishing they could just cut out the delegates and pick their party's nominee through a direct vote.

Apple on Tuesday announced its first-ever quarterly decline in iPhone sales, as well as its first decline in revenue in more than a decade. Apple sold 51.2 million iPhones, narrowly beating analysts' expectations, but far below the 61.2 million iPhones Apple sold in the same quarter last year. Analysts blamed the decline on the saturation of the market for smartphones. The 2016 presidential election is still more than six months away. Inauguration day is nine months from now. Despite Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton's hefty delegate leads, neither party nominee has been formally determined yet. And yet, already, the race to delegitimize our next president has begun.

It's all but certain that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee, especially after she scored victories in four Northeastern primaries on Tuesday. Similarly, Donald Trump has taken a very large step toward securing the GOP nod, crushing Ted Cruz and John Kasich in all five Tuesday contests.

"Demography is destiny," wrote Ben Wattenberg and Richard Scammon in their 1970 book The Real Majority, perhaps the first formal warning in American politics that political parties had to pay heed to changing populations. And while The Real Majority served as a warning to both major parties, the argument that demography is destiny has most recently been applied to the Republican Party's sputtering attempts to appeal to an increasingly diverse American electorate.

Bernie Sanders did a bit better than expected in Tuesday's Northeastern primaries, managing to win Rhode Island despite trailing in pre-election polls. Still, he was soundly thumped in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, and lost narrowly in Connecticut.
