Idle Breakout
What is typical downtime?
Normal idle time is a natural aspect of the production cycle and is brought on by variables outside of management's control. Normal idle time associated with direct labor is expressed as a portion of the total direct labor cost of production in cost accounting.
Timing – is idle breakout speed a factor?
Yes. Changing the timing will alter the idle speed at the same throttle setting in the case of both valve timing and distributer timing (in older automobiles with a spark distributer), as it will alter the engine's efficiency at that throttle setting.
