RIO DE JANEIRO — At least eight people died in Rio de Janeiro state because of landslides and floods caused by heavy rains Thursday, Brazilian authorities said. A 6-year-old was listed as missing in the countryside city of Mendes. Four of the dead, including an 8-month-old, were members of the same family in the city of Barra do Pirai, officials said. UN Report Accuses Sudan’s Warring Parties of Crimes Against Civilians

Suspected Gas Leak at Swedish Intel Service Sends 7 to Hospital

WASHINGTON — The U.S. military said on Friday it had destroyed Houthi drones and anti-ship cruise missiles in Yemen and the Red Sea after determining they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships. 4 Dead After Fire Engulfs Spanish Apartment Block; 19 Missing

VALENCIA, SPAIN — A fire engulfed two residential buildings in the eastern Spanish city of Valencia on Thursday, killing four people and leaving 19 others missing hours after the blaze started, authorities said. Firefighters rushed to the scene on the outskirts of the city center as flames burst from windows of the 14-story residential building where the blaze apparently started.
