2 dead in UCLA murder-suicide

Two people were killed in a murder-suicide at UCLA on Wednesday, Los Angeles police say.

The LAPD's chief spokesman said a note was found at the scene that may be linked to the shooting, which occurred in a small office in the Engineering building. A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times it appears that a professor was shot by someone young enough to be a student, who then turned the gun on himself.

The shooting was reported at 10 a.m. local time. Helicopter footage showed students leaving the building with hands above their heads. "A policeman, he looked like a SWAT kind of guy, he had a bigger gun, and he was just yelling at everyone to 'run, run run, run.' He was just yelling at everyone to run as far away as we can," one UCLA student told MSNBC.

Another student in the building where the shooting occurred tweeted a photo of a jerry-rigged lock, as the room she was sheltering in required a janitorial key to be secured:
