On Thursday, police identified the shooter in the murder-suicide on UCLA's Westwood campus Wednesday as engineering graduate student Mainak Sarkar. Sarkar reportedly had a tense relationship with engineering and aerospace professor William Klug, 39, who he fatally shot before killing himself.

A law enforcement official confirmed anonymously to The Associated Press on Thursday that tests revealed that legendary musician Prince died of an opioid overdose. Prince, 57, was found unconscious in an elevator at his home on April 21 and could not be revived; painkillers were reportedly discovered at the scene.

"This never was a university. The fraud started with the name of the organization. You can't just go around saying this is the George Stephanopoulos Law Firm/Hospital/University without actually qualifying and registering, so it was really a fraud from beginning to end," Schneiderman said.

President Obama told voters in no uncertain terms on Wednesday that Donald Trump and the GOP are misleading them on feasible policies and promises regarding the economy. Now Trump has hit back, telling an audience at his rally in Sacramento that Obama "doesn't have a clue," and that "if he campaigns, that means I'm allowed to hit him, just like I hit Bill Clinton."

Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) remain neck-and-neck in California just days ahead of the state's primary on Tuesday. The latest Field Poll released Thursday gives Clinton a mere two-point lead over Sanders, 45 percent to 43 percent, which is well within the poll's 3.2-point margin of error. The Obama administration is expected on Thursday to unveil federal rules to extend federal oversight to the $38.5 billion payday lending industry. The rules proposed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau would require lenders to assess borrowers' ability to repay, and discourage rolling over loans, which can pile up lending fees. In Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) opinion, no one person is more responsible for the rise of Donald Trump than Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
