Armenian FM meets with French, Dutch counterparts
ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with his French counterpart
Catherine Colonna on the sidelines the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
As a follow-up to the previous discussions and the September 21
emergency session of the UN Security Council, the sides discussed the
situation in the wake of Azerbaijan's aggression against the people
of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The sides touched upon the general security situation in the South
Caucasus, as well as issues of cooperation within international
organizations and under Armenia-EU partnership programs.
On September 22, Mr Mirzoyan had meeting with the newly appointed
Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Ms Hanke Bruins Slot.
Minister Mirzoyan congratulated Hanke Bruins Slot on her appointment
and expressed confidence that joints efforts will enable further
active political dialogue and expansion of cooperation in various
fields.
The sides discussed regional security issues, particularly the
situation in the wake of Azerbaijan's large- scale military attack on
Nagorno-Karabakh, on September 19. Mr Mirzoyan stressed that in
violation of international law Azerbaijan's aim is the ethnic
cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is home to approximately 120,000
people.
Mr Mirzoyan emphasized that civilized Europe must not tolerate
another potential mass crime witnessed by the international
community. He reaffirmed the significance of containing Azerbaijan's
ambitions to resolve issues by force and of ensuring the
Nagorno-Karabakh population's rights and security.
