Japan’s nuclear safety regulators have told the operator of a nuclear power plant in the area hit by a powerful New Year's Day quake to study its potential impact. The Nuclear Regulation Authority asked for further investigation even though initial assessments showed its cooling systems and ability to contain radiation remained intact. A program aimed at helping remove families and infants in Flint, Michigan, from deep poverty will give $1,500 to women during mid-pregnancy and $500 each month throughout the first year after the birth. Hewlett Packard Enterprise is buying Juniper Networks in an all-cash deal valued at about $14 billion, which is anticipated to double HPE’s networking business. HPE will pay $40 per Juniper share. Federal investigators are set to open several days of hearings starting Wednesday into a dockside cargo ship fire that killed two New Jersey firefighters last summer at Port Newark. A 61-year-old man with schizophrenia has been found, after going missing for more three weeks when the St. Louis nursing home where he lived suddenly closed on Dec. 15. As workers scrambled to prepare Northview Village Nursing Home residents for transfer to other facilities, Frederick Caruthers walked away from the building. Authorities found Caruthers at a local restaurant on Tuesday. A member of the public had seen him and phoned the police. When officers located Caruthers, he had no obvious signs of injury.
