Republican legislators in Kansas have advanced proposals to limit the state's involvement with individuals and companies from China and other U.S. adversaries. Bills approved Wednesday by the Kansas House would prevent them from owning farmland or business property, limit state investments in their companies and restrict the use of foreign-made drones. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called out China’s excess production in green energy, calling it unfair competition that “distorts global prices” and hurts companies and workers around the world. Yellen is planning her second trip to China as Treasury secretary. Trader Joe’s recently upped the price to 23 cents for a single banana, marking a 4-cent — or 21% — increase from the grocer’s previous going rate for the fruit that remained unchanged for over 20 years. Allies of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Disney have reached a settlement agreement in a state court fight over how Walt Disney World is developed in the future following the takeover of the theme park resort’s government by the Florida governor. David Rubenstein’s purchase of the Baltimore Orioles has been approved by Major League Baseball owners. That clears the way for the Angelos family to finalize the sale after over three decades running the team. Approval of 75% of all owners was required, and MLB said the vote was unanimous. Alabama has set a May 30 execution date for a man convicted in the 2004 slaying of a couple during a robbery. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey set the date for the execution by lethal injection of 50-year-old Jamie Mills. The Alabama Supreme Court last week authorized the governor to set Mills' execution date. The products from Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Co., billed as helping lower cholesterol, contained an ingredient called “benikoji,” a red species of mold. In addition to the products from Kobayashi, a government health ministry official says more than 40 products containing benikoji have been recalled. Ethiopia’s biggest bank says it has recouped nearly 80% of the cash it lost during a system glitch that allowed customers to take out more money than they had in their accounts.
